New: Oak podcast!

Prevent Child Sexual Abuse programme / Podcast

We have started doing podcasts! Our very first one is about the very important task of stopping the perpetration of child sexual abuse before it ever happens. Oak’s Prevent Child Sexual Abuse Programme believes that children everywhere deserve a positive future: the chance to grow and learn in safety – free from the threat of sexual abuse. Through its grant-making, it hopes to make a case for broad action by building the evidence of what works and demonstrating solutions that can be brought to scale.

In this Podcast, Helena Duch, head of Solutions Sub-Programme at Oak, talks with Dr Elizabeth Letourneau, who develops and evaluates perpetration prevention programmes at Johns Hopkins University, and Dr Michael Seto, a professor of psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, about the issue of child sexual abuse perpetration and why it is important to focus on prevention. Together they discuss current research on stopping abuse before it happens.

Through a large Oak grant to the Moore Center, they will combine their efforts to rigorously evaluate programmes that are most effective at preventing the perpetration of child sexual abuse and ensuring that these programmes can be scaled up effectively. We hope you enjoy listening to this interview as much as we did. Please find out more about Oak’s Prevent Child Sexual Abuse Programme on our website.
